Direct Machining

During the manufacturing of molds, dies and tools, manual retouching on the machining model is often required, in order to optimize or correct unforeseen problems arising during the design or production phases. When this happens, it is important and necessary to preserve the original geometry of the mold or die in a digital format to regenerate it when it becomes deteriorated with use.

We must note that in many cases the mold is already in production and  that means that measuring it in the shortest time can help reduce costs.

The current trend in this direction is to achieve a massive digitization of points  in order to digitize the mold as accurately as possible to directly machine the resulting file. However, conducting a reverse engineering process willl be expensive, time consuming and a possible source of error.

The SIDIO optical scanning system renowned portability allows  the customer to scan the mold, die or tools on site and thanks to its speed and high resolution, scanning objects can be done in the shortest possible time. Which means it will minimize interventions and expensive stoppages in the production process, all this without forgetting the necessary accuracy for this kind of work.

In the sample images, you can see some scans, that once processed were used to machine directly.

SIDIO scanning system allows you to:

Recover the geometry of the mold after it has been modified manually
Use this geometry to regenerate it when it is overused
Directly obtain the files from the machine and avoid reverse engineering, the source of many errors
Measure the mold or matrix in-situ, reducing the costs of stops in the production line
